BR Outback grew taller and more crossover-shaped, dropped the turbo XT variant, and standardized the CVT (Lineartronic) on most trims. Engines: 2.5L FB25 naturally-aspirated boxer four (replacing the EJ25 mid-cycle), and the 3.6L EZ36 flat-six (3.6R). Last Outback with manual-transmission availability on the 2.5i.

Watch out: Owner reports of FB25 oil consumption — Subaru issued an extended warranty (class-action settlement) covering certain 2011-2015 vehicles with FB engines for piston-ring-related oil consumption. Verify the consumption test and any short-block work was performed.
