Subaru Crosstrek 1st Generation (GP)

20132017 · GP · suv

First-gen Crosstrek (initially branded XV Crosstrek in the US, 2013-2014) was a lifted Impreza GP hatchback with body cladding. FB20 2.0L flat-four (148 hp), 5-speed manual or Lineartronic CVT. Crosstrek Hybrid (2014-2016) added a small electric motor — a low-volume curiosity. The rugged-look + fuel-efficient combo made it Subaru's surprise hit.

Watch out: FB20 oil consumption extended warranty (same FB-engine class action as the Outback/Forester of the era) applies to 2013-2014 vehicles — verify history. Underpowered for highway merging at altitude is a common owner complaint, not a defect.
