Ram 1500 DS (4th Generation)

Fourth-gen Ram 1500 (chassis DS, 2009-2018) is the truck that ditched the leaf-spring rear for a coil-link setup and introduced optional 4-corner air suspension on Laramie+ trims. Engines: 3.6L Pentastar V6, 4.7L V8 (early), 5.7L Hemi V8 with MDS cylinder deactivation, and the short-lived 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 (2014-2018, the diesel-emissions settlement years). Sold concurrently as the 'Ram 1500 Classic' from 2019 on alongside the new DT body.

Watch out: 5.7L Hemi MDS lifter failure — collapsed lifter on a deactivated cylinder destroys the camshaft. ~$3,000-$6,000 cam-and-lifters job. Common past 100k. Many owners disable MDS via tuner as preventive maintenance.
