Ram 1500 Classic DS Continuation (alongside DT)
2019–2024 · DS · pickup
Not a new chassis — the DS-platform 4th-gen Ram 1500 was renamed 'Classic' in 2019 when the redesigned DT launched, then continued in production through 2024 at the Saltillo, Mexico plant as a lower-priced fleet- and value-buyer option. Engines: 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid, and 5.7L HEMI V8 with optional eTorque. Same Coil-spring rear suspension and form-factor as the 2009-2018 DS trucks. (For the original DS-era write-up, see the Ram 1500 DS 4th-gen entry.)
Watch out: 5.7L HEMI MDS lifter failure — Classic shares the family-wide cylinder-deactivation lifter collapse story. The DS frame is also more susceptible to corrosion on Northeast trucks than the redesigned DT frame. Air suspension (when equipped) leaks at the bags and compressor in the 80-120k window.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
