1992–1995 · coupe
Successor to the 944 S2 and the final front-engine Porsche four-cylinder. 3.0L inline-four with VarioCam variable valve timing — 236 hp naturally aspirated, the largest production four-cylinder of its era. Coupe and cabriolet body styles. The 968 Turbo S (1993-1994, ~14 units) and 968 Club Sport (Europe/Asia/UK) are the unicorns.
Watch out: Lower production numbers than 944 mean parts availability is thinner — plan service around that. Same timing-belt rigor as 944. Hydraulic lifter tick at cold start is normal. Dashboard cracking remains a 944/968-family cosmetic issue.
