Nissan Cube Z12
2009–2014 · Z12 · hatchback
Third-generation Cube (the only generation officially sold in North America, the Z11 stayed JDM). 1.8L MR18DE I4 (122hp). Xtronic CVT or 6-speed manual. FWD. Distinctive asymmetric rear quarter, the wraparound rear window only goes around one side. Sold in the US from the 2009 to 2014 model years, then dropped due to slow sales. A small but devoted enthusiast community keeps them on the road.
Watch out: Xtronic CVT is the usual long-term concern. The MR18 is a simple port-injected engine with no major scandals. The bigger ownership variable on a Cube is the parts catalog, most consumables are shared with the Versa/Sentra of the era, but trim and body parts are getting harder to source.
