Sixth-generation Mirage. Mitsubishi's global A-segment hatchback, sold in the US since the 2014 model year. 1.2L 3A92 three-cylinder (78hp). CVT or 5-speed manual. FWD only. Two body styles: hatchback (Mirage) and three-box sedan (Mirage G4). Repeatedly competed with the Nissan Versa for the title of cheapest new car in the United States during its run. Frequently mocked, frequently sold to buyers who needed something they could finance on minimum wage. Mid-cycle facelift for 2017.

Watch out: CVT is the long-term watch-item, typical for the class. The three-cylinder engine is unusual; smoothness, vibration, and harshness (NVH) are noticeably below segment norms. Beyond that the Mirage has fewer chronic mechanical issues than the price would suggest. It's the segment-floor entry, and it does what it promises.
