Mitsubishi Galant 9th Gen
2004–2012 · DJ · sedan
Ninth and final Galant. Engines: 2.4L 4G69 I4 (~160hp), 3.8L 6G75 V6 (~230hp; Ralliart variant ~258hp). 4-speed automatic (early) or 5-speed automatic (later years). FWD only. Mitsubishi sold the Galant in the US through the 2012 model year before discontinuing, the segment had moved to Camry/Accord/Altima and Galant sales never recovered. The short-lived 'Galant Ralliart' (2007-2009) added a tuned V6, aggressive bodywork, and Recaro-style seats, a curio in the used market.
Watch out: The 3.8L 6G75 V6 has documented timing-chain-tensioner wear at higher mileage (this engine family is shared with the Endeavor / Eclipse 4th-gen / Raider). The 4G69 I4 is generally durable but had some MIVEC variable-valve-timing solenoid issues. Interior plastics and door cards aged poorly. As a used buy: cheap, simple to maintain, but the parts catalog is shrinking and dealer support is minimal.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
