Sold in the US as Dodge / Freightliner / Mercedes-Benz Sprinter through this generation. OM642 3.0L V6 turbodiesel was the powertrain story — strong torque, frugal, but with its own list of pain points. NCV3 is the internal Mercedes name; W906 the chassis code. Multiple wheelbases, roof heights, and cab/cargo configurations. The platform van-life and adventure builders standardized on.

Watch out: OM642 oil cooler leaks (engine-out service), swirl flap actuator failures, EGR cooler cracks, and turbo resonator failures — the canonical NCV3 mechanical-issues list. DEF system reliability on 2014+ BlueTEC cars. Salt-belt rust on body panels and frame is the other big-ticket concern.
