Maserati Quattroporte M156 (6th Generation)

20142024 · M156 · sedan

Built on the Chrysler LX platform at Grugliasco (later Mirafiori from February 2022). Engines: 3.0L F160 twin-turbo V6 (330-430hp), 3.8L F154 twin-turbo V8 (530hp GTS, 580hp Trofeo), and a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 (275hp) for European markets. All engines pair with the ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic. AWD optional on V6 cars in select markets. Production ended December 2023; the 2024 was the last model year and there is no direct successor.

Watch out: Same F160 V6 timing-chain-tensioner failure as the Ghibli — a system-wide weak spot across Ferrari-built Maserati twin-turbo V6 engines. V8 GTS/Trofeo cars are stronger mechanically but the ZF 8HP, while broadly excellent, gets clunky when the dealer-default 'lifetime' fluid is left in past 80k. Electronics and infotainment service costs are punishing.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
