Lexus IS XE20 (2nd Generation)

Second-gen IS launched with the 4GR-FSE 2.5L V6 (IS 250) and 2GR-FSE 3.5L V6 (IS 350). The retractable hardtop IS 250C/350C arrived 2010. The IS-F (2008-2014) used the 2UR-GSE 5.0L V8 with an 8-speed automatic — Lexus's first serious M3 fight. Conservative aesthetics, conservative reliability.

Watch out: Owner reports of 2GR-FSE carbon-buildup on intake valves (direct injection — common to the family), and dash-pad cracking / stickiness on sun-exposed cars. The IS-F has its own watch-list — verify VVT-i oil-line service was performed.
