Second-gen GX (GX 460) ran a remarkably long 14-year US production cycle with only mild updates. 4.6L 1UR-FE V8, 6-speed automatic, full-time 4WD with locking center diff, KDSS suspension standard on most trims. Shares the J150 platform with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150 and the 5th-gen 4Runner (which uses a different engine).

Watch out: 2010 GX 460 was recalled (~9,400 units) for VSC software after a Consumer Reports lift-throttle oversteer concern triggered a 'Don't Buy' rating — long since remedied; verify any used 2010 had the campaign performed. Otherwise drivetrain reputation is excellent.
