Lexus GS S160 (2nd Generation)
1998–2005 · S160 · sedan
The second-generation GS sold in the US as GS 300 (2JZ-GE, naturally aspirated), GS 400 (1UZ-FE 4.0L V8, 1998-2000), and GS 430 (3UZ-FE 4.3L V8, 2001-2005). Note the US GS 300 used the naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE, not the twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE that was in the JDM Aristo. A short-lived 2002 GS 300 SportDesign and the 2004-2005 GS 430 round out the run.
Watch out: Owner reports of timing belt service neglect on the 2JZ-GE and 1UZ-FE/3UZ-FE V8s (typical interval around 90k miles). Aging air suspension on some trims, worn navigation LCDs, and weathered headlight lenses are common on surviving cars.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
