Third-gen Sorento grew to a true midsize three-row SUV. US lineup: 2.4L Theta II GDI (185 hp), 2.0L Theta II turbo (240 hp, 2016 only), and the 3.3L Lambda II V6 (290 hp) as the upgrade engine. AWD optional. The Lambda V6 SX-L trim was the buyer's pick. Built in West Point, Georgia. Spiritual predecessor to the Telluride.

Watch out: REAL ISSUE: 2016-2018 cars with the 2.4L and (brief) 2.0T Theta II engines are part of the rod-bearing failure recall pattern. The 3.3L Lambda II V6 generally sidesteps that pattern but has documented carbon buildup on direct-injection intake valves at high mileage. VIN check before purchase.
