Jeep Patriot MK (Single Generation)

Built on the Chrysler PM/MK platform — based on the Mitsubishi GS architecture and shared with the Compass MK and Dodge Caliber. Engines: 2.0L and 2.4L World Engine I4s in the US, 2.0L VW and 2.2L Mercedes diesels in export markets. Available with Freedom Drive II off-road 4WD paired with a CVT and a 19:1 crawl ratio — the most off-road-capable Jeep Patriot trim. Built at Belvidere, Illinois. Discontinued December 2016 (sold as 2017s).

Watch out: Jatco JF011E CVT failure — the CVT pairs with the 2.4L and is documented to overheat under sustained load (towing, mountain grades) and fail without warning. Fluid service was originally listed as 'lifetime' but real-world owners need a 30-50k mile change to have any chance of reaching 150k. The 2.0L/2.4L World Engine itself also has a sludge reputation if oil changes were missed.
