Jeep Commander XK (Single Generation)
2006–2010 · XK · suv
Shared the WK Grand Cherokee unibody with stadium-style three-row seating crammed into a body only two inches longer. Engines: 3.7L PowerTech V6 (210hp), 4.7L PowerTech V8 (235-305hp), 5.7L HEMI V8 (330-360hp), and the 3.0L Mercedes OM642 diesel V6 (218hp) for export markets. Discontinued 2010 — Jeep never replaced it directly; the three-row Grand Cherokee L arrived a decade later.
Watch out: Same 3.7L V6 valve seat dropping and 4.7L V8 sludge/cooling issues that plagued the WK Grand Cherokee. The 5.7L HEMI in early Commanders has the MDS lifter story. Air conditioning evaporator failures behind the dash and instrument-cluster gauge sweep failures are also Commander-specific complaints.
