Infiniti QX80 Z62

20112024 · Z62 · suv

Second-generation full-size SUV. Launched as the 2011 QX56, renamed QX80 for the 2014 model year under the new nomenclature. 5.6L VK56VD V8 (~400hp / 413 lb-ft), same engine as the Titan A61. 7-speed automatic. RWD or 4WD with low range. Body-on-frame, sharing the global Nissan Patrol Y62 platform, unlike the previous QX56, which was Titan/Armada-based. Three rows, seven or eight passengers. Production ran 13 model years with mid-cycle refreshes; replaced by the 2025 Z63 QX80.

Watch out: Two well-known patterns. (1) VK56VD valve-train wear at high mileage, listen for tick on cold start. (2) The 7-speed automatic has documented torque-converter shudder on aged fluid, a flush usually clears it. The hydraulic body-control suspension (when equipped) is expensive to repair out of warranty. Otherwise a body-on-frame V8 SUV that ages well if you stay on top of fluids.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
