Infiniti Q70 Y51
2014–2019 · Y51 · sedan
Continuation of the Y51 chassis Infiniti M, renamed to Q70 for the 2014 model year as part of Infiniti's brand-wide naming change (everything became Q-something or QX-something). Same hardware platform as the 2011-2013 M: 3.7L VQ37VHR V6 (Q70), 5.6L VK56VD V8 (Q70 5.6), and a hybrid (Q70 Hybrid). 7-speed automatic. RWD or AWD. A long-wheelbase Q70L was added during the run. Sold through 2019, after which Infiniti exited the rear-drive luxury sedan segment without a direct replacement.
Watch out: VQ37VHR timing chain stretch and oil consumption are the most-cited high-mileage concerns. Owner reports of front strut bearing knock, electronic shifter quirks, and aging infotainment hardware are common. The VK56VD in the Q70 5.6 carries the same intake-valve carbon-buildup pattern as other DI Nissan V8 applications. Hybrid cars carry the added complexity of an aging high-voltage system. The car was sold in low volume against German competition, so finding records and qualified service can be uneven outside major metros. Pre-purchase: scan for stored codes, verify hybrid pack state of health on hybrid cars, and listen for chain rattle on cold start.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
