Infiniti Q50 V37

20142026 · V37 · sedan

Fifth-generation, Infiniti's first car under the new Q-nomenclature. Originally launched with the carryover 3.7L VQ37VHR V6, then for 2016 added the 3.0L VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 in 300hp (Q50 3.0t) or 400hp (Q50 Red Sport 400) tune. A Q50 Hybrid was offered early in the run. 7-speed automatic. RWD or Intelligent AWD. Direct Adaptive Steer (steer-by-wire) was Infiniti's headline tech, controversial in feel but functional.

Watch out: Direct Adaptive Steer hardware has aged less well than the rest of the car, several recalls and warranty replacements over the years. On VR30 turbo cars, the twin-turbo system makes more heat than the VQ engine ever did; cooling-system condition matters more on these. Otherwise it's a Nissan-built RWD V6 sedan and behaves like one.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
