Eighth-gen Sonata bet on dramatic fastback proportions and signature LED running lights that flow into the hood. US lineup includes the 2.5L Smartstream GDI (191 hp), the 1.6L turbo (180 hp), the 2.0L hybrid, and the N Line 2.5L turbo (290 hp) introduced for 2021. A 2024 facelift restyled the front. Built in Montgomery, Alabama.

Watch out: Smartstream is the post-Theta family of engines and has so far avoided the catastrophic recall pattern, but the 2024 facelift restyle is divisive, and resale on the pre-facelift 2020-2023 cars is taking the hit. Buy used, not new.
