Honda S2000 AP2
2004–2009 · AP2 · convertible
The AP2 update brought the F22C1 2.2L i-VTEC to North American and Japanese cars, lengthened the stroke for more low- and mid-range torque (162 lb-ft vs the AP1's 153), dropped the redline from 8800 to 8000 rpm, and revised the suspension and steering for less snap-oversteer at the limit. 240hp held steady. A CR (Club Racer) trim for 2008-2009 was the swan-song lightweight track-focused build. Production ended August 2009.
Watch out: AP2 owners still face the soft-top window separation and high-mile damper-fatigue patterns of the AP1, plus a small but documented issue with the F22C oil consumption on hard-driven cars. The CR trim, with its stiffer setup, is its own subset and is sought-after on the used market.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
