Honda Prelude BB5-BB9 (5th Generation)

1997–2001 · BB6 · coupe

Fifth and final-of-the-original-line Prelude. US-spec ran the 2.2L H22A4 DOHC VTEC making 200 hp at 7,000 rpm. The Type SH added ATTS — Honda's mechanical front-wheel torque-vectoring system, a rare bit of late-'90s engineering. Discontinued in 2001 with no direct replacement until the BF1 in 2026.

Watch out: H22A4 front main seal leaks and timing belt service (~90k mi) are the major recurring items. ATTS hydraulic units in Type SH cars are no longer serviceable — failures effectively retire the car's defining feature. Rust around rear wheel arches on Northeast examples.
