Honda Pilot 3rd Generation

The 3rd-gen Pilot launched 2016 with smoother, crossover-style sheet metal. J35Y6 3.5L V6 with VCM, 6-speed automatic on lower trims, ZF 9HP 9-speed automatic on higher trims and 4WD models. Eight or seven-passenger seating depending on trim. i-VTM4 torque-vectoring AWD replaced VTM-4. Mid-cycle refresh for 2019.

Watch out: Early ZF 9-speed automatic (2016 models) drew the loudest complaints for harsh shifts and recall fixes; the 2017-2018 software updates and the 2019 refresh resolved most. The VCM oil-consumption and torque-converter behavior still warrants VCMuzzler-style mitigation for owners planning to keep the truck long term.
