Honda Pilot 2nd Generation

20092015 · YF3/YF4 · suv

The 2nd-gen Pilot launched 2009 with the J35Z4 (later J35Y4) 3.5L V6 and a 5-speed automatic. VCM was standard. Eight-passenger seating, VTM-4 AWD optional. Styling went more squared-off and SUV-truck-looking than the first gen. Built in Lincoln, Alabama. Last Pilot with the 5-speed automatic before the 6-speed arrived on the 3rd gen.

Watch out: VCM oil consumption and torque-converter shudder remain the headline complaints on this generation. The shudder pattern shows up under light load between 30 and 50 mph; ATF service intervals and Honda DW-1 fluid are the standard mitigation.
