Honda Pilot 1st Generation

The 1st-gen Pilot launched 2003 as Honda's first dedicated three-row SUV for the US market, built on the same global light truck platform as the Acura MDX. J35A4 (later J35A6) 3.5L V6, 5-speed automatic, VTM-4 on-demand AWD on optional trims. Eight-passenger seating standard. Built in Lincoln, Alabama and Alliston, Ontario.

Watch out: Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) on the 2006-2008 J35A6 is the source of the well-known oil-consumption and torque-converter-shudder complaints. Owners often install VCM disablers to extend engine life on high-mile examples.
