Honda Odyssey 4th Generation

20112017 · RL5 · van

The 4th-gen Odyssey launched 2011 with the J35Z8 3.5L V6 and VCM standard across the lineup. 5-speed automatic initially; 6-speed automatic on Touring trims from 2011 and across the lineup from 2014. The lightning-bolt third-window beltline became the visual signature. Built in Lincoln, Alabama. Mid-cycle refresh for 2014 brought updated front-end styling.

Watch out: VCM oil consumption and torque-converter shudder are the most-reported faults on this generation. The 2014-2016 6-speed automatic also drew complaints for harsh 1-2 shifts; ATF service with Honda DW-1 fluid is the standard mitigation.
