The 3rd-gen Odyssey launched 2005 with the J35A6 3.5L V6 (LX, EX) and the VCM-equipped J35A7 (EX-L, Touring). 5-speed automatic standard. Built in Lincoln, Alabama. The generation that drew enthusiast reviewers to a minivan for the first time on the strength of the chassis. VCM Touring trims have a complicated long-term reputation.

Watch out: VCM-induced oil consumption and engine misfire-on-cylinder-deactivation patterns on Touring trims. Cylinder 1/3/4 misfire codes are a forum classic and often traced to worn rings on the deactivating cylinders. Owners commonly install VCM disablers.
