Honda Element 1st Generation

20032011 · YH2 · suv

The Element launched 2003 with a CR-V-derived platform, B-pillar-less clamshell side doors, polypropylene rear cargo floor designed for hose-out cleaning, and a 2.4L K24A4/A8 i-VTEC making 160hp (166hp from 2007). 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. FWD or Real Time 4WD. Built in East Liberty, Ohio. Honda discontinued the Element after 2011 with about 325,000 total units sold.

Watch out: Front fender rust where the cladding meets the body is a documented complaint on cars from salt states; the unpainted lower cladding can trap moisture against the metal. Otherwise the K24 powertrain is genuinely robust and the car has a deserved reputation for high-mileage durability.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
