Honda Accord 9th Generation

The 9th-gen Accord launched the Earth Dreams engine family. 2.4L K24W7 direct-injected I4 (185-189hp), 3.5L J35Y V6 (278hp) with VCM cylinder deactivation. CVT replaces the old 5-speed automatic on I4 cars; 6-speed automatic on V6. Coupe sold alongside sedan. Plug-in hybrid available 2014 (PHEV, California/East-coast only). Sport trim debuted with sport suspension and 19s.

Watch out: VCM-related oil consumption on the 3.5L J35Y V6 — Cylinder deactivation causes oil rings to coke up; many owners install a VCMTuner to permanently disable VCM. Honda did not extend warranty coverage for this generation.
