Compact unibody pickup on the Ford C2 platform — shared with the Escape, Bronco Sport, and Lincoln Corsair. Crew cab only with a 4.5-foot bed. Engines: 2.5L Atkinson hybrid (191hp combined, FWD standard) and 2.0L EcoBoost I4 (250hp, FWD or AWD). Hybrid is the headline — most economical pickup sold in NA in recent memory at ~40 mpg combined. CVT (hybrid) or 8F35 8-speed automatic (EcoBoost). Tremor off-road package added 2023 with locking diff and Trail Control.

Watch out: 2022-2023 hybrid trucks had a documented stop/start delay / hesitation pattern — Ford TSB and OTA software updates addressed most cases. 12V battery management on hybrid is overworked — owners report parasitic drain issues during long sits. 2.0L EcoBoost in the Maverick is the 4-cylinder, not the 2.7 or 3.0 V6 — so the intake-valve cracking recall family (NHTSA 24V-635) does NOT apply to Mavericks. Generally a sound, well-received truck early in its life.
