Dodge Magnum LX (Only Generation)

20052008 · LX · wagon

The Magnum is the rear-wheel-drive HEMI station wagon Dodge sold for only four model years, 2005 through 2008. It shared the LX platform with the Chrysler 300 and the resurrected Dodge Charger, which means a long hood, a tall belt line, and the option of a 5.7L or 6.1L HEMI V8. The SRT8 with the 425-hp 6.1L HEMI is the one enthusiasts chase. Production was cut short when Chrysler discontinued the wagon body style. Used prices have firmed up considerably as the car has aged into cult status.

Watch out: The 5.7L HEMI of this era has well-documented camshaft and roller-lifter wear that contributes to the so-called HEMI tick; missed oil change intervals accelerate it. Owner reports of TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) failures across the LX-platform family, causing intermittent no-starts and fuel-pump issues. The 5-speed NAG1 automatic is generally durable with regular fluid service.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
