Dodge Challenger LC/LA (3rd Generation)

20082023 · LC · coupe

Built on the LC chassis — a shortened-wheelbase LX platform shared with the Charger and 300. Engines spanned the 3.6L Pentastar V6, 5.7L HEMI V8, 6.4L 392 HEMI, and the 6.2L supercharged Hellcat in escalating horsepower (707, 797, 808 Demon, 840 Demon, 1025 Demon 170). The 2018 Demon was the first production car NHRA banned from racing for being too fast. Final unit — a Pitch-Black Demon 170 — rolled off Brampton on December 22, 2023.

Watch out: Same HEMI MDS lifter failure that plagues the Charger and Ram — 5.7L and 6.4L cars are the highest-risk; supercharged Hellcat motors skip MDS but show their own pattern of supercharger bearing failures and oil-pump-pickup-tube cracks on aggressively-driven cars. Driveline-vibration complaints on early manual-transmission cars (6-speed Tremec) are also well-documented.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
