Dodge Avenger JS (2nd Generation)

2008–2014 · JS · sedan

Built on the Chrysler JS platform — derived from the Mitsubishi GS architecture (the DaimlerChrysler-Mitsubishi joint venture). Engines: 2.4L GEMA World Engine I4, 2.7L V6 (through 2009), 3.5L V6 (R/T, through 2010), and the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (283hp) from 2011 onward. Discontinued after 2014; Chrysler 200 took its slot.

Watch out: 3.6L Pentastar left-bank rocker arm failure on 2011-2013 builds — same family-wide issue as the Caravan, 300, and Wrangler JK. Cylinder 2, 4, or 6 misfires with a ticking startup noise are the tells. Earlier 2.7L V6 cars have their own legacy of sludge problems if oil changes were missed.
