Fourth-generation Tahoe on the K2XX platform (sibling to K2XX Silverado / Suburban / Yukon). EcoTec3 5.3L L83 V8 standard, 6.2L L86 V8 optional on RST/Premier from 2018. Six-speed auto (5.3L) and eight-speed 8L90 (6.2L). Hybrid discontinued this generation.
Watch out: AFM-induced 5.3L L83 lifter failure remains the dominant complaint — same failure mode as the GMT900 V8. 8-speed 8L90 transmission shudder on early-build 6.2L trucks is the other recurring issue.
