Third-generation Tahoe on the GMT900 platform (shared with GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, Suburban). 4.8L LY2, 5.3L LMG/LC9, 6.2L L94 V8s. Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) standard on 5.3L; two-mode hybrid offered 2008-2013.

Watch out: AFM lifter failure on the 5.3L V8 is the defining issue — collapsed lifter takes out a cam lobe; repair averages $3,000-$5,000. Disabling AFM with a tune + new lifters is the common preventive fix.
