Chevrolet Silverado GMT900 (2nd Generation)

20072013 · GMT900 · truck

The GMT900 1500 launched 2007 and ran through 2013 (HD trucks ran through 2014 as the 'GMT900 HD'). LY5 4.8L, LMG/LH8 5.3L (most common), and L96 6.0L Vortec V8s, all small-block Gen IV. AFM (Active Fuel Management, V4/V8 cylinder deactivation) on the 5.3L is the generation's defining headache — collapsed lifters at 80-150k miles are common.

Watch out: AFM lifter collapse on the 5.3L LMG/LC9 V8 — a single collapsed lifter wipes a cam lobe. GM TSB PI0934 acknowledges the failure pattern; many owners disable AFM with a tune and lifter delete kit before failure.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
