Chevrolet Cruze 1st Generation (J300)

20112015 · Delta II / J300 · sedan

The Cruze launched in the US for the 2011 model year, replacing the Cobalt, on GM's global Delta II / J300 platform. North American engines were a 1.8L LUW four (Eco and base trims used the 1.4L LUJ/LUV turbo Ecotec), and from 2014 the 2.0L LUZ turbodiesel (also called the 'Cruze Diesel'). A six-speed manual and six-speed automatic were offered. The first-gen Cruze ran through 2015; an unrelated 2nd-gen Cruze launched for 2016. Sales of the Cruze in North America ended after the 2019 model year.

Watch out: Owner reports of coolant leaks from the water-outlet housing (sometimes called the 'thermostat housing'), turbo failures on the 1.4T, and PCV valve diaphragm failures on the 1.4T are widely documented.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
