Chevrolet Corvette C6 (6th Generation)

20052013 · C6 · coupe

The C6 brought back exposed headlights for the first time since 1962. LS2 (400hp) at launch, LS3 (430-436hp) from 2008. The Z06 ran the dry-sump LS7 (505hp, 7,000 rpm) from 2006; the ZR1 added the supercharged LS9 (638hp) in 2009. Last C-gen with hydraulic steering. Manual is the Tremec T56 (later TR-6060).

Watch out: LS7 (Z06) valve guide wear — premature intake valve guide wear causes valve drop and bent valves on track-driven cars. GM extended warranty TSB 11-06-01-007 covered some; out-of-warranty repair is a head rebuild at $4,000+.
