Chevrolet Camaro 4th Generation (F-body)

19932002 · F-body · coupe

The fourth-gen F-body launched 1993 with a 3.4L V6 base and 5.7L LT1 Gen II small-block in the Z28. 1995 added a 3.8L Series II V6. The big shift came in 1998 when the LS1 (Gen III all-aluminum small-block, the LS series) replaced the LT1 in Z28 and SS. SLP-tuned SS models (1996-2002) added a forced-air hood, larger wheels, and tuning. Convertible offered throughout. Production ended in 2002 with the 35th Anniversary SS; the nameplate sat dormant until the 5th-gen 2010 revival.

Watch out: T-top and roof seal leaks plus rear hatch leaks are extremely common, leading to soggy carpet and rust under the rear seats. Owner reports of LT1 Optispark distributor failures (1993-1997) and 4L60E transmission wear are well-documented.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
