Second-generation Avalanche (its final generation) on GM's GMT900 platform. Engines: 5.3L LY5 / LMG / LC9 V8s; 6.0L L76 V8 available 2007-2009 (then dropped). Defining feature is the Midgate — fold-down rear bulkhead that extends the bed into the cab. Final-year 2013 'Black Diamond Edition' marked the discontinuation.

Watch out: Same AFM lifter failure on the 5.3L V8 as the rest of the GMT900 family — collapsed lifter destroys a cam lobe; $3,000-$5,000 repair. Midgate seal leaks into the cab if not periodically lubricated/inspected.
