Cadillac STS 1st Generation

2005–2011 · Sigma · sedan

Mid-size luxury sedan on GM's Sigma platform — first RWD Cadillac STS, with optional AWD. 3.6L LY7 V6 (255-302 hp) and 4.6L LH2 Northstar V8 (320 hp). The 2006-2009 STS-V used a 4.4L LC3 supercharged Northstar V8 (469 hp). 6-speed automatic. Production ended May 4, 2011; replaced by the stretched 2014 CTS.

Watch out: Northstar head-bolt failures (a chronic Northstar-family issue — bolts strip the aluminum block threads, leading to head-gasket failure) is the catastrophic concern. Time-Sert thread repair is the standard fix; STS-V supercharged is especially vulnerable.
