Cadillac Eldorado 12th Generation (Final)

19922002 · K-platform / E/K-body · coupe

The twelfth and final Eldorado launched for 1992 as a personal-luxury coupe on GM's E/K-body architecture. Early cars (1992) carried the 4.9L L26 OHV V8; the Northstar 4.6L DOHC V8 became standard for 1993, with the base Eldorado getting the LD8 and the Eldorado Touring Coupe (ETC) getting the L37 (higher-output Northstar). Four-speed automatic (4T80E). Production ended April 2002 with the Collector Series; the Eldorado nameplate has not been revived since.

Watch out: Owner reports of Northstar head-bolt thread pull (head bolts strip out of the aluminum block, causing head-gasket failure and coolant intrusion) are the defining long-term issue. Time-Sert thread inserts during head-gasket service are the standard fix.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
