BMW X6 E71 (1st Generation)

The E71 X6 is the first-generation BMW X6 and the vehicle that defined the coupé-SUV body style. Built on the E70 X5 platform, it launched for the 2008 model year. Powertrains include the N54 twin-turbo six (xDrive35i, early), N55 single-turbo six (xDrive35i, later) and the N63 twin-turbo V8 in the xDrive50i, plus the S63 in the X6 M.

Watch out: N63 V8 timing chain guides, valve stem seals (blue smoke at startup) and turbocharger life are widely documented concerns; BMW issued a 'Customer Care Package' in the US covering several N63 items on affected cars. N54 high-pressure fuel pump failures and wastegate rattle are also routine.
