Second-gen X5, built at Spartanburg, SC. N52 inline-six (xDrive30i), N62/N63 V8 (xDrive48i/xDrive50i), M57 diesel (xDrive35d) and the S63 V8 in the X5 M. Optional third-row seat (kids only). LCI in 2011 swapped the N62 for the twin-turbo N63 and updated iDrive.

Watch out: N63 V8 (2011+ xDrive50i / X5 M): valve stem seals, timing chain, fuel-injector failures — the multi-year saga. Pre-LCI N62 V8: coolant transfer pipe is the engine-out repair. xDrive35d (diesel): high-pressure fuel pump and swirl-flap failures.
