Moved to the CLAR platform shared with the 3 Series. B46 turbo-4 (xDrive30i), B58 turbo-6 (M40i), and the S58 in the full X3 M / X3 M Competition (the first M-badged X3). Plug-in hybrid xDrive30e arrived 2020. iX3 (fully electric) was Euro/China only. LCI for 2022 brought the bigger grille and tech updates.

Watch out: Electric water pump and thermostat housing failures across the B-family engines — plan on replacement in the 80-120k window. M40i and X3 M models punish front tires; budget accordingly. Comfort Access trunk button on early G01s has its own failure cluster.
