Coupe sibling to the F80 M3 sedan. S55B30 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six replaced the F30 V8 with smaller displacement, lighter weight, more low-end torque. 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. F83 is the convertible. Competition Package and CS variants raised power and chassis spec. The GTS (300 units, water-injection) is the unicorn.

Watch out: S55 charge pipe — the OEM plastic part splits under boost. Aftermarket aluminum charge pipe is the well-known fix and most cars on the used market have it. Rod bearings on track-driven cars; oil pan baffling is a known concern at sustained high-g cornering.
