Audi A4 B9 (5th Generation)
2017–2023 · B9 · sedan
B9 sits on the MLB Evo platform shared with the Q5 and A5. EA888 Gen 3 2.0L turbo four runs Audi's B-cycle (a variable Miller/Atkinson-style efficiency mode). Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel optional then standard. The 2020 mid-cycle refresh added a 48V mild-hybrid on most US cars. Reliability is dramatically improved over the B8.
Watch out: Water pump and thermostat housing leaks. Plastic housings crack around 60k-90k miles. A $500 part with a four-hour labor bill.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
