Audi A4 B8 (4th Generation)
2009–2016 · B8 · sedan
B8 A4 ran the EA888 2.0L turbo four (Gen 1 then Gen 2 mid-cycle) and a 3.2L FSI V6 on early cars. Quattro AWD was widely optioned. Known issues include early EA888 timing chain tensioner failure (Gen 1, pre-2013), excess oil consumption on the same Gen 1 engines, and PCV diaphragm failure. The 2013 facelift brought Gen 2 EA888 with most of those addressed.
Watch out: EA888 Gen 1 (2009-2012) oil consumption from worn piston rings. A 1 quart per 1,000 miles burn is common. Audi settled a class action; window closed.
