Audi A4 B7 (3rd Generation)

20052008 · B7 · sedan

The B7 A4 is the facelift evolution of the B6 platform, sold in the US from 2005 through 2008. It introduced Audi's single-frame grille design language. Engines include the late 1.8T, the new 2.0T FSI (BPY) direct-injection turbo four, the 3.2 FSI V6 and the BBK 4.2 V8 in the S4. The B7 RS4 used the BNS 4.2 V8.

Watch out: 2.0T FSI (BPY) carbon buildup on intake valves, high-pressure fuel pump cam follower wear, and timing chain tensioner wear on certain engines are well-documented issues. Owner reports of timing belt service criticality on 1.8T and 3.2, multitronic CVT failures on FWD cars, and front control arm wear continue from the B6.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
