US A3 8V switched from hatchback to sedan body — Audi correctly read the US market preference. MQB platform shared with VW Golf Mk7 / GTI / Golf R / Audi TT Mk3. EA888 Gen 3 (CXSB / CXSA / CYBB) 1.8T or 2.0T. S3 (2.0T, 292 hp) and RS3 (2.5L turbo five-cylinder, 400 hp) brought serious performance variants to the US for the first time.

Watch out: EA888 Gen 3 improvements over Gen 2 are real but the family still demands attention to PCV valve, water pump, and timing chain components. DSG fluid service intervals. The 2.5T five-cylinder in the RS3 is its own conversation — it's exceptional and demands premium maintenance.
